The Agriculture Growth and Rural Innovation in Moldova (AGRI-M) will contribute to income generation and job creation in the rural areas by promoting the inclusion of small farmers and youth in high value, agriculture-based value chains. With the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) as Lead Implementing Agency, the project will aim at promoting different types of rural enterprises that will bring small producers together, create economies of scale, and facilitate access to remunerative markets and technological innovation for climate resiliency and competitiveness.
AGRI-M has two components encompassing technical and policy interventions, and a third one related to project coordination and management:
Component 1 : Agri-Business Development, Partnership and Capacity strengthening. It aims at promoting small-scale farmers and young people inclusion in the targeted value chains, by enhancing their capacities to deliver bigger volumes of safe, quality and consistent produce to remunerative domestic or export markets.
Component 2 : Innovation Fund. It aims at financing investment capital for enterprises including the delivery of training, technical assistance and business support services.
Component 3 : Project Management. It aims at strengthening the monitoring and evaluation, procurement and financial management capacity of the project.
