Summary
Agro-Industrial Pole Project in the North-East (2PAI Nord-Est) aims to contribute to increasing food and nutritional security and to promote the development of agricultural value chains with high economic potential in the area of intervention. The specific objectives are to contribute to: (i) the emergence of an agro-industrial transformation pole in the North-East of the country through the revitalization of promising, gender-sensitive and resilient agricultural value chains; (ii) the promotion and increase of private investment; and (iii) the involvement of a range of vulnerable actors (e.g. young people and women) in the creation of rural wealth.
Components and Objectives
2PAI-NE has four components:
Component1: Strengthening climate-adapted agricultural production systems connected to markets. This includes activities pertaining to the upgrade of agricultural production infrastructure, the capacity building of small producers and the Strengthening community resilience.
Component2: Development of added value and access to markets. It entails promotion of processing and marketing infrastructures establishment and the strengthening the capacities of processing and marketing stakeholders.
Component3: Development of an environment favourable to agro-pastoral activities. It covers the provision of technical and non-financial services as well as the offer of financial services and the improvement of the environment relating to private investment.
Component4: Project management, monitoring-evaluation and coordination. This involves knowledge management, institutional support and project coordination.
