The overall goal of PRODESA is to contribute to the reduction of multi-dimensional poverty among rural populations in the South and East of Angola. The project development objective is to improve food and nutritional security and income of small-scale farmers and ethnic minority groups in the South and East of Angola while enhancing their resilience capacities to climate change and other shocks and stressors.
PRODESA has three main components:
Component 1: Drought Resilient Crop-livestock Farming and Pastoral Systems. It will focus on supporting the project’s target groups in increasing the local production of a diversity of food while addressing their vulnerabilities to the impacts of droughts and other climate change risks as well as from degraded ecosystems.
Component 2: Improved Connectivity and Access to Markets. It will address the challenges for pastoralists, and producer groups in accessing markets for selling the surplus under low connectivity conditions. The component will take into account their need for market outlets for a diversity of products, reinforcing their resilience strategies and contribution to sustainable local and regional food systems.
Component 3: Institutional Strengthening, Policy Dialogue and Implementation Support Services.
